Here is an overview of The Great Loop. The green line shows the part of the Loop that we completed in 2012. To do the entire Loop with no long stops takes about a year. Some people take several years to make it all the way around. We started May 2012 in the lower Chesapeake and stopped in Pickwick (on the Tennessee / Alabama border) around the end of September 2012. The red line is the route we would take to finish the Loop - or as Loopers call it 'cross our wake'. In 2013 we will go as far as St. Petersburg, Florida.
